Week 9 of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) girls volleyball season kicked off Monday across the isle. Island playoffs are slated to begin Oct. 18.
Parker 3, Kealakehe 0
Parker girls volleyball kept rolling during its straight-sets win over Kealakehe on Monday’s business trip inside the Waveriders’ gymnasium.
The Bulls won by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-22. It was their seventh straight win, as the team’s last loss came Sept. 9 against Hawaii Preparatory Academy. Parker stayed atop of BIIF Division II at 14-1 overall.
Kealakehe fell to 6-8.
Per ScoringLive, the Bulls have one regular season match remaining before BIIF playoffs begin later this month — this afternoon against division rival Ka Makani at 3 p.m. inside Waiakea District Park Gymnasium. HPA has given Parker its only loss of 2024, in which it won in consecutive sets. Ka Makani is also on a hot streak, winning seven straight.
Kealakehe has a few matches remaining on its slate — its first being against DII opponent Kohala at 5 p.m. Thursday in Kapa‘au. Junior varsity will play first.
JV: Parker wins 2-0 — 25-23, 26-24.
HPA 3, Kohala 0
Hawaii Prep Academy girls volleyball won its seventh straight match on Monday against Kohala inside Castle Gym — winning by scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-17.
Ka Makani sits in second in BIIF Division II behind Parker at 12-1. However, HPA has an opportunity to take the No. 1 spot in the division today. The red and white will face the Bulls at 3 p.m. in Waimea.
The Cowgirls (6-7) host Kealakehe tomorrow night.
Ka‘u 3, Ka Umeke 0
One of BIIF Division II’s top teams won its fourth straight match on Monday in Pahala. Ka‘u beat Ka Umeke in straight sets — 25-8, 25-10 and 25-12.
At 9-4 overall, the Trojans stayed in third in their division. Ka‘u has three matches remaining over the next two weeks, next taking on Hilo at 10 a.m. Saturday on the road. Junior varsity will play first.
Ka Umeke (0-10) also faced DI powerhouse Waiakea late Tuesday night in Hilo town. See the paper later this week to read the results.
